Guest of RadioRai, the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina spoke about the Super League and the UEFA:
"There are simple principles to be respected, affirmed by the Olympic Charter and then reported by the statutes of national and international federations. They are clear principles, in which the exclusivity of the management of sport is established. It's not good for the world of sport, it's not good for some clubs: I hope that in a very short time, maybe a few hours, there will be an end to this fight between UEFA and the big clubs."
What do you think of the format change in Coppa Italia?
"I think there is a strategic error, a working method error, which unfortunately often distinguishes the world of sport and football: the lack of dialogue. I think that the components should talk to each other and confront each other a little more, participating in the processes linked to a project. There is no connection with the Super League, but only the objective need for a clogged calendar. We need to talk to each other more, the federation will do its best: we all hoped for a change in the format, so there was a communication and method error."
It seems that Lega Serie A had known about the Super League since February...
"Personally, I did not. There have been signs, which have been circulating for some time, but never with this much agitation that was carried out in 48 hours"
What can you tell the Juventus fans?
“I hope and hope that this dispute can be resolved as soon as possible: we are all a bit tired of this tug-of-war between UEFA and these three clubs. I hope to be a mediator between Juventus and UEFA: it is not good for international football, for Italian football, for Juventus."
Are there any sanctions from the football association?
"No, we have already said that the football association respects the rules. The rules foresee the non-participation in our championship if the principles established by the federation and UEFA are not accepted."
Serie A will restart on August 22nd. What could be the goal for that date?
“The hope is that we can think of the next championship as something that inaugurates a return to normalcy. We need it at a sporting level like the whole country."
