AC Milan and Puma unveiled today the brand-new home kit for the 2021/20222 season and the Women’s team have the opportunity to make history twice in the same match.
As announced by the club on a promotional panel with Puma director Francesca Scarpa and AC Milan players Laura Fusetti and Veronica Boquete, the Club’s new home kit will debut on the pitch on their showdown against Sassuolo on May, 15, prior to the Male’s team match on Sunday. This is the first time in history in Serie A that a Club’s new kit debut with the Women’s team.
On that matter, Puma director Francesca Scarpa said:
“I would like to start from the statement that we want to treat footballers equally and this is not just a statement. We want you to do something concrete to show that to what we are telling me is what is happening every day, so we are simply giving the chance to this to our girls to our female team to be treated in the same way that Male’s team is treated every day and in a very natural way in our sports calendar the match of our female team will take place before the Male’s team match on Sunday, so why shouldn't we reveal the Jersey during their match? So, we crossed our fingers and, yes, they will play on Saturday with the new kits for the first time.”
Vero also had her say:
“For us, we are super excited. I think this is a massive message from the Club, from Puma. We are living in this feminist moment and I think like all the campaigns, like “She moves us, this move for us to present the kit, I think that this goes in the same line and this just push us and just give us something more, like, I think that we were going to go faster. We still have a big gap in terms of equality, but we're getting closer and for us to put that Jersey first is kind of a “well this is really something is changing” and we really appreciate and for us it's a pleasure and an honor.”
Fusetti shared her thoughts on the matter as well:
“I agree with Vero. For us it is a bigger honor, we are very proud and we say thanks to our Club that gave us this important opportunity. Much like Vero, I think that this is a big step to the women’s football development and so we can’t wait to wear this jersey next Saturday.”
