According to Cadena SER, Brazilian Emerson will report to Barcelona next season. The defender was purchased in a joint agreement between Barcelona and Real Betis in 2019. Both clubs agreed to split the fee, and he has been playing with Real Betis since the purchase. A clause was instituted that gave Barca the rights to purchase the player in 2021, and it is reported that they will be exercising that clause to add the defender to their squad. Barca are set to pay Real Betis nine million euro for Emerson, and may look to secure a lower price using Miranda during the negotiation process.
The Brazilian did not lack suitors as he was being followed by clubs across Europe, including Milan. Milan are looking to add a reinforcement to the full back position, and Emerson certainly piqued their interest. The Brazilian has made 62 La Liga appearances, and has 4 goals during that period.
