AC Milan signed Mario Mandzukic in January thinking that his quality and experience would help the Rossoneri achieve their seasonal goals and that he would be a reliable alternative for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Unfortunately that did not happen as the Croatian suffered way too many obstacles and injuries after coming to Milanello as a free agent.
The former Bayern Munich man, however, still has a chance to redeem himself and leave his mark. In fact, according to what is reported by Tuttosport, Stefano Pioli has not yet made a decision, but he is considering the possibility of fielding Mandzukic on Sunday evening against Atalanta.
Mario’s fate is now sealed, but for a player of his caliber and pride, leaving Milan with a place in the top European club competition would be a nice way to say goodbye.
The next training sessions will be decisive to understand if the Croatian will really be deployed from the first minute or if Pioli will prefer to give continuity to Ante Rebic as a center forward.
