In an exclusive interview granted to Noordhollands Dagblad, AZ Alkmaar Director of Football Max Huiberts has expressed his astonishment regarding the statements of club captain Teun Koopmeiners, who has admitted having talks with AS Roma.
“I know that there is interest from a club, the management of Teun, with whom we have a good relationship, has informed me. But that was three months ago. After that I did not hear anything more. As I mentioned earlier, after all, three parties are needed for a transfer and it is not automatically the case that good conversations between a player and a club automatically lead to a transfer."
For the record, the Netherlands international was reported to be followed by AC Milan and cross-city rivals Inter, as La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed in April that both Milanese clubs had moved months ago already for the 23-year-old, testing the waters with AZ.
