In an exclusive interview granted to L'Equipe, Laurence Py, the mother of Theo Hernandez, has returned to the transfer of her sons to Atletico Madrid. Here are her words:
"It was heartbreaking. When they were transferred to Atlético Madrid's youth academy, training manager Julian Muñoz told us in June whether to keep them or not. It was stressful! Lucas and Theo took turns going to his office. The discussions took place at the Vicente Calderon. And when they came out, the weather was nice, they looked at the stadium lawn and said to me:"One day, mum , we will play there! Both! Lucas is right, his arrival at Atlético is a fluke. The club had invited Theo for testing, not him. But I had no one to take care of Lucas. He came with us and was playing next to the pitch where Theo was testing. An educator came to ask me if he was also my son and invited him to play too. They took them both! At the beginning, I just asked them to be in the same class. They are 15 months apart. For my personal organization, it was better. Lucas then quickly asserted himself. He was captain in all his teams. He wanted more. He was a fighter, a leader. Theo was more shy, more sensitive."
