As reported today by SPORT, Barcelona have expensive players and wages coming in this season, so players like Junior Firpo could be up for sale this summer. Barca look to trim some fat on the squad list, as they will have to offload some wages to account for the profiles of Aguero, Depay and Emerson. Firpo has been with the club since 2019, and has made just 45 appearances for the club. While the player is just 24, he does not seem to be an immediate plan for Barcelona, and the club will look to profit from their player.
Milan and Inter have both followed the profile. Milan are in the market for a deputy to Theo Hernandez, and Firpo would fit that role well. The issue at hand, however, is that Milan would like to take the player on loan as opposed to an outright purchase. Barca are looking to profit off of the player, and would rather make a sale than offer a loan.
Milan already plans for two major purchases this summer with Tomori and Tonali, so purchasing a rotational player could be difficult for the Rossoneri this transfer window. Firpo is also followed by English clubs that would like to make a purchase of the player, so Barca could begin to focus on those leads.
