Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly close to finalising the contract signature with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
But, before that, he was heavily linked with a move to Juventus. However, the latest background on the then-potential deal arrives from expert Gianluca Di Marzio:
"Massimiliano Allegri made a courageous and risky choice by saying no to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Allegri said that the starter is Wojciech Szczesny because he considers him among the top 4 strongest goalkeepers in the world."
"Donnarumma to Juventus was never easy because Szczesny still has 3 years left in his contract. So you couldn't even think about taking Donnarumma and alternating with them. For this reason Allegri preferred to keep Szczesny, giving up the possibility of signing Donnarumma on a free."
