Former Fiorentina and Udinese striker Cyril Thereau has granted an exclusive interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport, where he has been asked about the future of the Argentine star playmaker Rodrigo De Paul amid reported interest from a host of European giants, including AC Milan. Here are his words:
Is De Paul Ready for the big leap. Maybe at Milan?
"If not now, when? He is also making his mark on the national team. The time has come, and then I see him better in Serie A than abroad. Pioli dotes on him, trust me: he's the classic player the coach falls in love with. Quality, technique, leadership. He already wanted him at Fiorentina. Do I acted as an intermediary? Exactly. It was the summer of 2017, the coach knew we had played together the year before, so he asked me to persuade him to come. I called him often, I told him that it would be fantastic to play together again, that I would host him at home. He was happy, but Udinese asked too much and nothing came of it. "
