AC Milan are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Sandro Tonali permanently.
The midfielder, 21, joined the Rossoneri side in the summer of last season coming from Serie B side Brescia on loan with an option to buy.
After the season was finished, and Milan secured a return to the European elite competition, the Champions League, the club executives wanted to seek a discount on the buy-option.
The corona virus pandemic crisis hit the financial health of many clubs, and spending great amount of money is not a simple feat for most.
In addition to that, Tonali had a fluctuating season filled with ups and downs, which made Elliott management push to modify the parameters of the initial agreement.
After, the negotiations to lower the financial claims of Brescia were successful, with most reports claiming that primavera product Giacomo Olzer should be inserted in the deal.
Then, the Rossoneri started talks with Tonali in order to lower his salary that he earned in his first season at the San Siro to cut down some expenses at Casa Milan, which he had accepted, according to reports.
Now, as per the sources at Calciomercato.com, the amount of money that Sandro Tonali gave up on his salary in order to keep his place within the Milan team is half a million euros.
Certainly it is a gesture of love and Sandro Tonali shall be soon rejoining his teammates at Milanello for the preparations of the new season as it is now only a matter of a few days until the completion of the permanent move and official announcement.
