Paolo Maldini, technical direcor and iconic face of AC Milan has granted an interview to the radio station SiriusXm Fc 157, the Rossoneri legend spoke of Mancini's Italy triumph. Here are his words:
“This triumph is the first sign of happiness for this country, after so many difficult months. Italian football is back where it has always been: let's not forget that we have won 4 World Cups and now 2 Europeans. Our victory was necessary to show that there are many prejudices about our football; when we talk about Italy, we talk about the catenaccio, but Wales and England have waited for us in their half."
"The main job of a coach is to combine different personalities, different individualities, and Mancini was great at that. Considering then that we started from the disaster of the failure to qualify for the World Cup, it was not an easy goal. Italy had something different, they had the idea of being together and creating a group that could be competitive.", concluded Paolo Maldini.
