AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer as announced some days ago. But the process for a treatment is ongoing at New York.
The South African CEO of the Rossoneri club spoke to Milan TV to reassure everyone of his conditions. Here are his words:
"I'm really feeling great. I'm working during the day. Indeed, I am also undergoing some medical checkups to start my therapy. I will be fine, the most important thing is that I can't wait to return to AC Milan. That is important for me. It is also important that the team is growing. The beginning of the season has to be strong.”
On the support Gazidis received:
"It was beautiful. I was speechless. I’d like to thank everyone from my heart. To all the fans, the Curva Sud, which did a wonderful thing, as well as the Association of Milan fan clubs who have written to me. These things give me great strength."
"I can't wait to see the fans again and see them at the San Siro stadium. I'll be there very soon", continued the club's CEO.
On the Milan medical staff that is helping Gazidis:
"I'm grateful to the medical staff of AC Milan, in particular, Stefano Mazzoni, as well as other doctors and nurses of the CDI who discovered this tumour and cancer, then there is the IEO which is a great institution with fantastic staff. People have written me so many messages. I'm ready for this challenge."
On the desire to continue working and being close to the club:
"In the morning, I can work with my colleagues at the club. Later, I go through various medical checks with the doctors. I have complete faith in the club's staff. We have a strong team. This club won't let up. This season will be important for us. Thanks to everyone and always Forza Milan."
