The AC Milan fans were back to the San Siro tonight after a long absence and they were treated to a beautiful show that saw their beloved team outpacing Cagliari easily and putting 4 goals past them in the first half.
The team started very well and Sandro Tonali converted a free-kick from a dangerous spot. The young Italian midfielder is starting to gain momentum and repaying the management for the trust that they placed in him.
Three minutes after the first Milan goal, Cagliari were able to equalise after a header from Deiola. But, soon enough, Milan responded firmly; a powerful shot from Leao deflected by Brahim Diaz found its way to the net.
Milan did not stop there, Olivier Giroud scored a brace as well. The Frenchman proved that he is a true number 9, capable of filling Ibrahimovic's shoes when the Swede is not available. This aspect was lacking in the Rossoneri's squad last season. The Former Chelsea man also held the ball well upfront and created space for his teammates.
Milan showed personality, discipline and tactical strength today. Stefano Pioli's men entered the match well and did not lose focus when Cagliari pressed and scored the equaliser.
Now, Il Diavolo has 6 points. The red and black faithful joined Lazio, Inter, Roma, and Napoli as they all have now 6 points after two games in the Serie A.
Next up in the calendar, Milan plays against a very strong and decent team, Lazio who are led by Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri in September 12.
