Serie
Serie A 2021-22 Matchday 3 is upon us and the AC Milan Women will face another newcomer in Italy’s top flight this Saturday. The rossonere head to Rome to face Lazio, looking to collect another 3 points after Hellas Verona and Sampdoria.
Probable line-ups
AC Milan gaffer Maurizio Ganz is a well-known man of habits, so it is very likely he sticks with his favorite starting eleven once again. The only missing piece of his jigsaw is swiss striker Nina Stapelfeldt, who is recovering from an injury.
Lazio head coach Carolina Morace, who was in charge of the rossonere on their debut season, also seems poised to repeat the same players she fielded in their last two games.
AC Milan (3-4-2-1): Giuliani; Codina, Agard, Fusetti; Bergamaschi, Adami, Jane, Tucceri Cimini; Thomas, Vero; Giacinti.
Lazio (4-3-3): Ohrstrom; Gambarotta, Fordos, Thomsen, Heroum; Castiello, Mastrantonio, Cuschieri; Pittaccio, Martin, Andersen.
The road so far
The rossonere are unbeaten in Serie A so far, having beat Hellas Verona on matchday 1 and Sampdoria last week. They have scored 5 goals and conceded any, having even suffered any shot on target according to FIGC.
The laziali, on the other hand, is yet to score a point in this season. On their Serie A debut, they lost 1-2 to Sampdoria, and last week, Inter got the best of them even after a superb outing by goalie Ohrstrom.
Keep an eye on
In order to secure another win before the international break, the rossonere must explore some of the fragilities Morace’s Lazio have shown in their last games. The hosts tend to sit deep and tight, letting the opposition have the majority of possession, pouncing on any loose ball and while relying on speedy left-winger Andersen to lead their counter-attacks.
Milan could learn a bit from Internazionale and explore the right side of Lazio’s defense, as their right fullback Margot Gambarotta is poor at defending. Also, both their centre-backs, Moller Thomsen and Fordos, are young and inexperienced players and a tad slow for their age. The only player that really standout in Lazio’s defense is the aforementioned goalkeeper Ohrstrom, who is a decent shot-stopper.
Where and When
This Serie A 2021-22 Matchday 3 fixture will take place at the Campo Aquile Sporting Center, in Rome, this Saturday, September 11, at 14:30 CEST.
For those who live in Italy, Milan TV, La7 and the TIMVISION app will broadcast the game. Note that fans outside Italy will be able to watch it live on La7’s website.
The FIGC is working to distribute the broadcasting rights for the league worldwide and, while this is one huge step towards professionalism, one of its side effects is that Milan no longer broadcast their games live on the app, but the fans outside Italy will be able to watch it afterward on the app, the official website and their Dailymotion page.
