AC Milan's return to the Champions League after 7 years saw them play at the Anfield stadium facing Jurgen Klopp's liverpool.
The Rossoneri lost 3-2 with Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz scoring the two goals for the Italian giants while Alexander Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Jordan Henderson were on the score sheet for the Reds.
Stefano Pioli had this to say concerning the game to the media:
"We certainly wanted to win but we give credit to Liverpool. There is regret for the two goals conceded in the second half where there are a few too many mistakes from our part. The team was motivated but we expected a strong start from them. We were too static and not very dynamic . This is the level of the Champions League, this match will make us grow a lot."
"I leave with the knowledge that the team can grow further, but we need to improve in detail. Their pressure created a lot of problems for us and we struggled to dribble. We haven't always served Rebic at the right times."
Pioli also commented on the defensive phase of the Rossoneri during tonight's fixture:
"We will work on the dangerous situations created by Liverpool. In those cases we can and know how to do better because we are usually much more careful."
