AC Milan fans on social media made their opinions known about their beloved club's first match in the Champions League after an absence which lasted 7 years.

Stefano Pioli's men lost 3-2 and had the chance to close the game with a positive result. However, this match should serve the coach and players well in order to grow further and learn.

One fan is optimistic about was displayed by the players tonight:

The fans are proud of this team and recognise that there could be some improvements soon

Proud of the squad for their efforts in the return to the #UCL stage.

Anfield is one of the most daunting environments to play in, especially for a very young side.

Glad the supporters who traveled experienced a massive European night.

Avanti così…#ForzaMilan 🔴⚫️💪

Great game, never expected to win or even draw but at least we didnt bend for them

Build on this and keep moving

Sucks to lose, and the team was crumbling from the nerves for the first half hour, but we grew into the game.
Very proud of the boys, it's only the start ❤

Liverpool a level above but still, didn't feel they had to work particularly hard for their second half goals.

That said, I don't think we really posed a threat in the second half so it's probably a fair result. Anfield isn't an easy place to come to either, hostile atmosphere.
