Former Milan goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma will arrive at his former stadium for the first time on Wednesday with the Italian national squad. The Azzurri will face Spain for a Nations league semifinal match at the San Siro on Wednesday night.
The Italian keeper will assume a starting role with the squad, but may not be the most beloved member of the squad in the home of the club he left this summer. TuttoMercatoWeb posted Donnarumma’s words from a recent press conference regarding the situation:
“I always gave Milan everything, right up to the end. If something like this happens [being booed], I would also be sorry because it is a very important match, a Nations league semifinal. So I hope the fans can help us,”.
Gigio made the move from Milan to PSG this summer on a free transfer. Since the move, the keeper has struggled to make consistent appearances as he competes with Kaylor Nevas.
Donnarumma has had nothing but great things to say about his former club since the move, but Milan fans may not treat their former keeper too kindly come Wednesday night.
