AC Milan won an important game against Atalanta in matchday 7 of the Serie A. The Rossoneri grabbed 3 important points thanks to goals scored by Davide Calabria, Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao.
Now, coach Stefano Pioli can have some satisfactions as he arrived to the national teams' break with good results in the league.
The Italian boss discussed many topics in his post match press conference:
"I saw a beautiful match, both teams had a good game. We did better than our opponents, we deservedly won against a strong team and on a difficult field. We knew that the Atalanta team is strong at home. We started better than them with the goal from Calabria, it gave us more conviction."
On Theo Hernandez and Sandro Tonali:
"It is difficult to make individual evaluations tonight, everyone played a great game. Leao and Rebic played the seventh game in 21 days, the team expressed a high level game. We must not lose humility, we will find many more difficulties because the Italian league is growing. We are in bad shape in the Champions League, but we don't want to give up."
On the team's growth:
"We have been giving signals for two years now and after the 5-0 defeat two years ago. We have been playing at these levels for two years. It is clear that it takes a lot to build, we are not perfect yet, and perhaps we never will be. But I hope that the break will give me the opportunity to recover important players, this will give us even more strength."
On the performance in this match:
"We had a great match, I absolutely agree. But even with Lazio and Atletico Madrid, on Tuesday we played a great match for 30 minutes. Each match is a story in itself, but this victory has nothing to do with it. This match must convince the young players even more."
What do you say to your team?
"They must have enthusiasm and ambition, always, without stopping work and growth. We are a team that must grow and demonstrate, but the boys have shown that they are up to par with two great teams such as Liverpool and Atletico Madrid." replied Pioli, "We are going in the same direction, but we must maintain humility. Furthermore, we need everyone's participation and desire."
