AC Milan is looking to sign some reinforcements to the squad in the defensive area. They are joined in the hunt for a cenre-back by their Serie A rivals Juventus.
Paolo Maldini, technical area director, and Frederic Massara, the sporting director of the Rossoneri club, are looking to add some quality to the defense because there are some complicated cases in defense: there is the difficult renewal of Alessio Romagnoli and 32-year-old Simon Kjaer who sometimes is injured (and also has an expiring contract).

Juventus are also in the same boat because they want to bring in a good defender who would help stabilise their backline.
Juventus and AC Milan to target same profile in Spain...
According to what is reported by Calciomercato.it, the Rossoneri and Bianconeri could think about the French defender of Barcelona, Samuel Umtiti.
The centre-back is considered a surplus for Juan Laporta and it seems that he is even willing to terminate the defender's contract and let him walk away from the Camp Nou for free, as reported by Spanish outlet Diario Gol.
The Italian source, Calciomercato.it, though, claim that while Umtiti can be available as a free agent, it will still be difficult for AC Milan and Juventus to find an economic agreement to convince the player.

Samuel Umtiti, former Lyon player and World Cup winner with France in 2018, is 27 years old. He had injuries before which made him lose his spot and rhythm. But, the quality and talent is undeniable as he needs continuity at this moment in his career to relaunch himself.
