AC Milan were hoping to continue their positive and useful results in the Serie A season in order to stay at the top of the league table. But, they faced a really strong Fiorentina side who were much more incisive in front of the goalkeeper as they scored 4 goals. Three goals scored by the Rossoneri were not enough to bring home any points.
Stefano Pioli's side were not as focused as Fiorentina who capitalised off of the goalkeeper and Gabbia's mistakes in the corner. In a strange action, it seemed that Tatarusanu did catch the ball in his hands, but it slipped and Gabbia did not clear it so Fiorentina's Duncan was in the right time and place to put the ball in the net in what was the first goal of the game with 15 minutes in.
Milan, later, attacked so hard and missed many clear opportunities. Ibrahimovic did manage to score 2 goals tonight, but he could have scored more. He was unlucky and missed some other chances in the first half.
Fiorentina, however, did apply a very good offside trap. The Rossoneri players fell in the offside so many times which obviously made life even more difficult than it was.
As Milan tried to equalise, La Viola managed to score the second thanks to a stunner by former Il Diavolo player Riccardo Saponara.
Dusan Vlahovic scored the third goal in the 60th minute, Ibrahimovic scored in the 62nd and 68th. Then, Pioli's team was really close to grabbing an equaliser, but awful mistake from Theo Hernandez who lost the ball in front of the penalty area saw Tatarusanu concede the 4th goal which was scored by Dusan Vlahovic again. A third goal was scored by Milan thanks to an own goal by Lorenzo Venuti in the 96th minute, but it was simply too late and just not enough. To sum it all up, Fiorentina were too attentive and ready as they punished the red and black faithful each time they made defensive errors.
It was a night to forget for Milan fans, and a very good one for Vincenzo Italiano, who once again grabs a win against Stefano Pioli. The unbeaten run comes to an end for Milan. Now, it is time to forget it, regroup, and go again and think about the next challenge: a Champions League fixture against Atlético Madrid in Spain on November 24.
