AC Milan's boss, Stefano Pioli, explained his choice to deploy Olivier Giroud as a starter instead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in tonight's fixture. Here are his words, entrusted with those at Prime Video:
"Olivier Giroud will start because he is feeling well. As for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he is ready to enter in order to give his contribution, but he must be managed well."
For the record, Zlatan Ibrahimovic played the full 90 minutes in the game against Fiorentina as he scored 2 goals which unfortunately were not enough to secure a win or even a draw. But now, all is forgotten as Stefano Pioli's boys focus to get the win at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in hopes to keep the dream of passing to the next round alive.

Pioli continued to talk about the absence in defence as Calabria and Tomori are ruled out of the game due to injuries:
"We go further with work and team play. The defenders are facilitated by the work without the ball of the other departments: if we work with the right attention our defenders will have fewer balls to manage."
