AC Milan Women Team fought against Juventus but could not secure the victory in the Italian Super Cup final. Unfortunately, the Rossonere lost 2-1 against their rivals.
Christy Grimshaw scored towards the end of the first half. But, the start of the first half was not a very good one as the red and black faithful conceded in the 50th minute after an own goal. The red card, obviously, did not help as well which was shown to Laia Codina in the 54th minute. The Bianconere pushed hard and scored in the 88th minute thanks to Cristiana Girelli.
AC Milan Women Team, Maurizio Ganz, coach said the following words to LA7 after the game:
"I'm proud, because we made a great performance. We played on a par with Juventus and had important opportunities. The game was conditioned by the expulsion of Codina. The second yellow is excessive and then there was a penalty at the end of the game. However, I congratulate Juventus but I am proud of my girls. The quality of Milan is rising, Juve are doing very well but for us this is the right path."
He continued:
"Now, we focus on the league. Both with Roma and today we saw an amazing Milan. The spirit is the right one, I train an important group, now let's turn the page and look forward. If this is the Milan of the future we will see some good ones. We need to recharge and start off again. These are Milan's values and we must always carry them forward. The new arrivals? Guagni brings us experience and professionalism, while Piemonte brings us the desire and determination to work well with the group. Today, they all played well."
