Codacons (Coordination of associations for the defense of the environment and the rights of users and consumers) announced that it will present a case to FIGC requesting the repetition of the Milan-Spezia match for the mistake made by the referee Marco Serra.
President of Codacons, Marco Donzelli, said the following words:
"It is undoubtedly a clamorous technical error, certainly committed in good faith by the referee Serra, as evidenced also by the reaction on the field of the referee who immediately apologized to the Rossoneri players... But unfortunately, he ended up influencing the game enormously."
According to Codacons, it is possible for a match to be replayed due to technical error if the referee admits the same in the match report and if this has had an effective influence on the regular running of the match. These circumstances coexist in this case.
There are precedents to this case as in Serie D, a game was replayed after a grave technical error committed by the referee between Ostiamare and Team Nuova Florida which ended 4-0 and repeated due to the referee's admission of a serious technical error (a cancellation of the potential equaliser for the away team).
The president of Codacons continued to say:
"We will formally ask the FIGC to repeat the match, in order to protect the regular running of the sporting competition (Milan are in fact fighting for the Scudetto, and an error of this type involves enormous damage) and the fans, who have the right to attend to a sporting show free from technical errors."
