AC Milan played against Spezia tonight and lost 1-2. Stefano Pioli’s men failed to become first in the league standings, even when it’s temporary as the other side managed to score a late winner.

The Rossoneri played with this formation:

4-2-3-1: Maignan; Florenzi, Kalulu, Gabbia, Hernández; Krunić, Bakayoko; Saelemaekers, Díaz, Leão; Ibrahimović

As for Thiago Motta’s team, they used the 4-3-3 formation module:

Provedel; Amian, Erlić, Nikolaou, Reca; Maggiore, Kiwior, Bastoni; Gyasi, Manaj, Verde

The game started out well, Spezia players were holding their ground but that didn’t stop the Rossoneri from trying to find an early goal. There were some shots on target which could have resulted into goals. But, there was no good finishing from the red and black faithful.

A penalty was won by Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez failed to convert it, unfortunately. The Portuguese winger number 17, a minute later, managed to score with a beautiful lobbed ball.

The second half started with the Rossoneri in control of the game, there were a few opportunities but what was worthy to note is that Thiago Motta’s men were not shy and attempted shots on target which Maignan was good at saving. However, in the 64th minute, Kevin Agudelo scored a tap-in. Milan, then, went all out in attack. None of the attempts worked for Stefano Pioli’s side.

Junior Messias who entered during the second half did not have a very good game. But he managed to put the ball past the goalkeeper of Spezia. However, the referee had called for a foul already without giving an advantage in a very strange moment and shock of the players. A couple of minutes later, the white and black side took advantage of the AC Milan players being in a high position up the field and started a very good counter-attack which resulted in a killer goal by the talented and fast attacker Emmanuel Gyasi.

It was a very frustrating second-half for Milan players and their fans. A win was up for grabs. But, many opportunities were missed and unfortunately, the referee, Marco Serra, made a big mistake which influenced the course of the game.

Below you will find our ratings for the players. Let us know your thoughts in the comments

AC MILAN DESPERATELY UNLUCKY TO HAVE LOST THIS GAME ,INDEED THE GOAL
SHOULD HAVE STOOD ,DREADFUL REF DECISION..HAD THIS GOAL STOOD THEY WOULD
HAVE WON .I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED THAT GIROUD WAS NOT INTRODUCED EARLIER.
THAT SAID YES AC MILAN SHOULD HAVE WON ,AS THEY HAD SO MANY SCORING OPPORTUNITIES..THEY WILL COME GOOD AGAIN ..MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THAT .
