Leao's case is unfolding these days with Lille being in trouble as they must pay a big compensation fee for Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese club's communications director, Miguel Braga, spoke to Raio-X, a program broadcast on Sporting TV and said the following:
"The reason is on our side and we will never stop defending the interests of the club. The good news is that it was TAS that recognized Sporting are right and sought compensation from Lille. It will be much easier for a club to make this payment due to the amount involved."
He continued:
"Now FIFA will have to decide the value of the compensation, whether it will be the decision of the CAS or a different amount. I remember that Rafael Leao spent a year at Lille and was then sold for 35 million and, at Sporting, he had a 45 million clause. The value is 16.5 million plus interest, but now we are waiting for FIFA."
