In the derby game last night, valid for the first leg of Coppa Italia semi-final, Alessio Romagnoli had to be substituted in the first half-time due to an injury.

In his place, Stefano Pioli chose to deploy young French centre-back Pierre Kalulu who was paired with Fikayo Tomori. The two defenders had a strong game together and managed to limit the dangerous scenarios. Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Ivan Perisic, Joaquin Correa and others did not cause a lot of chaos thanks to the defensive strategy executed by the two Milan central-defenders and the full-backs as well.

Alessio Romagnoli, unfortunately, was not able to contribute much due to the early injury. His early exit of the game caused fans to worry about his condition in view of the next game against Napoli.
As per Antonio Vitiello from Milannews.it, the tests made to the former AS Roma defender have indeed excluded a muscular lesion to his left adductor. Now, the medical staff will have to keep a close eye on the AC Milan captain to evaluate his recovery.
