After an interview with those at DAZN, Paolo Maldini spoke with Sky Sport Italia. Here are his words about the team's achievement tonight in winning the 19th scudetto of AC Milan:
"This is very important and deserved. I'll tell you in the next few days, the first day is all a bit new. I'm a bit more mature than when I won it as a player. The passion for this sport and for Milan, it combines everything."
When was this Milan born?
"Summer 2019, when I called Massara, Boban and some players. This year, having had a year like last year, I started with the idea of going to win the Scudetto. Now, we're here to enjoy it."
On the heroes of the match:
"This is my story, the Scudetto belongs to everyone, including Dani who gave an important hand."
On how this team was born:
"You have to deal with what is right now, now you have to work your way up. The idea was that of a young, fast and courageous team. I always say that Milan have tradition and come first because they have a culture of work and defeat. It has a different balance from other cities."
Paolo Maldini on the Scudetto:
"We believed it, it was a restriction given by the club, perhaps not buying the champions but strong players who were a bit lost like Theo and Leao. We worked on the growth of the boys. To the boys who came to my office I said that in difficult moments, championships are won with men, not with players."
How is this team improving?
"It is an underestimated team. We are giving 100%, but we have room for growth. This must be a starting point to compete in Europe."
When will you renew your contract?
"Today we celebrate."
Paolo Maldini added:
"A tear? It didn't fall but I live with emotions. In difficult moments we always lean on the family, but a thought also goes to mum and dad who would have been proud."
