Sandro Tonali who accepted to lower his wages in order to make his stay with the Rossoneri permanent, has shown so much maturity and progress this season. He wants to be a top player at Milanello and remain for a very long time to come.
The former Brescia player spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and had this to say:
"When you win, everything changes. If possible, the attachment to the shirt increases. I was a child on the street in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, a Milanese town, for the fan party. Winning in Reggio Emilia was crazy, but I only realized what we did once we got back to Casa Milan. There, I read the emotion in the eyes of the people around us. I decided not to take the phone in hand for videos or photos, I had to live these moments and then always keep them with me."
Tonali on the next dream:
"In Santa Lucia, I have already asked too much, but dreaming costs nothing and so in the future I would like to try to win the Champions League with this shirt. It would be an indescribable emotion."
"My greatest merit? The Lazio goal, given the moment it arrived, was the heaviest of the season. It came from inside the small area, I have to add others from outside and improve in the choice of the tackles timing, too many times I expose myself to the risk of a yellow card. I will improve, I am inspired by Thiago Alcantara. I review every game of mine, except the last one, I'll have time to do it."
On his future:
"Reducing my salary for Milan was my last thought, as the renewal. I want to stay here, contract by contract. It would be nice to become a flag, but I don't look so much further. I am so attached to these colors that I know that my extension will never be a problem, it is right that the club thinks first of the expiring teammates than of me, I already have an agreement for another four years. My renewal will never be a problem. Milan don't have to worry about me", declared Tonali.
On his teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao:
"Zlatan gives security, as long as he is there. Watching him follow the game standing on the bench is worth more than a thousand gestures. He decides for himself and for us, he is a champion who thinks of others first, he has taken us by the hand as children. I hope he continues, he raises the level, he is decisive on and off the pitch. I think the best player of the season is Leao for the games he made us win when we were in trouble. He gave concreteness and points, beyond the plays. Against Verona, he put me in a position to score twice. There are no merits of mine, if not that of being in the right place, the rest is his work."
