Gerry Cardinale, RedBird's founder and managing partner has granted an interview to the club's official microphones at Casa Milan as he discusses his entry to the Rossoneri world:
"It is incredibly stimulating, and the first thing I would like to say, after admiring the history of the Club, is that for me it is an honor and a privilege to be welcomed into the Milan family, especially after the events of last week: witnessing this historic Scudetto has given me the drive to embrace the history of this Club and ensure that it has an equally exciting future. It is a very important aspect and I would like to congratulate the Club, the players, Elliott and the fans for this wonderful season. I feel a great responsibility to give continuity to all this."
Gerry Cardinale added:
"I've been in the sports world for almost 25 years. I've been to the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA celebrations, but I've never seen anything like what I saw last Sunday and Monday. I understand what this team stands for for the city of Milan, for the AC Milan fans and for people all over the world. Living all this has been a privilege and an incredible life experience. I am Italian-American and this is like a homecoming for me so it is an even greater responsibility after having witnessed all of this, they have been intense weeks but I had the opportunity to experience them as a fan and to participate in all this in a silent way. Since I have been working in the world of sport, nothing has ever motivated me as much as what I saw last weekend. And this gives us back a great responsibility that I will take very seriously."
On the club's ambition:
"In the world of sport, we at RedBird, have gained an important experience working with some of the greatest owners, but also leagues and players in history. So, I come to Milan with a lot of humility and awareness of my role. My role and that of RedBird is to be a great steward of this club. It is the responsibility towards the fans. We want to win and take this team to an even higher level, in keeping with the history that is exhibited here at the Museum (at Casa Milan) When you observe all this you agree that you have a great task: to replicate it in the future. The words I would use are responsibility, privilege and honour."
Gerry Cardinale with a message to the fans:
"I would like to thank the fans for welcoming us. We are aware that we have work to do and that is to be good guardians of your Club: a task that I take very seriously. I like to win, I hate to lose. Sometimes, I am impatient, but I will do my best. I make a commitment with all of you, the city of Milan and the fans, to do everything we can to win with honour and integrity and to also have a future equal to the history I have seen in the museum of this club. I can't wait to become part of the Milan supporters. Forza Milan Sempre!"
