Leao's former coach at Sporting Lisbon's youth team for two years, Luis Martins, spoke about the Portuguese left-winger to La Gazzetta dello Sport and said the following:
"At 16, he was already driving everyone crazy. He always reminded me of Henry. He'd take the ball and go past his man. But, he played alone and I told him to communicate with his teammates. Pioli made him a team player. Now, he thinks like a mature player. His head has changed, he is a technical leader."
On the renewal:
" Absolutely, yes. I wouldn't even sell him for 100 million euros right now. He is a heritage for AC Milan and the Portuguese national team", declared Luis Martins.
