Sven Botman has been the AC Milan target for months as Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are reportedly aiming to sign a central defender to reinforce the squad in view of next season for Italian head coach Stefano Pioli.
The Dutch defender of Lille, however, has also been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United in the Premier League. The Magpies are willing to shell out more financial resources in such a deal with Lille than AC Milan.
According to what is reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, the former Ajax talent has finally agreed on terms with Newcastle last night. He is set to join The Magpies. As for the cost of the transfer, it is reportedly set at around 40 million euros including bonuses.
The report adds that AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have done everything they could and even went to Lille before Milan-Atalanta fixture. However, the French club preferred to sell to Newcastle eventually.
