AC Milan continue to evaluate situations of different profiles in the transfer market window of this summer. The goal for Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara is to reinforce the squad for coach Stefano Pioli without spending crazy amounts of money. The main focal point is the attacking midfield with Charles De Ketelaere the top target, then, there will be time to look at the defence.
According to what is reported by The Athletic, Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa is wanted by AC Milan.
The English player in question is 18 years old and he can play as a central midfielder and attacking midfielder. His deal expires in June 2023 and a renewal with the Premier League side seems very complicated.
La Liga giants and the Italian champions, FC Barcelona and AC Milan respectively, want Chukwuemeka but will definitely not pay the rumoured asking fee which is £20million (around 23 million euros). It is deemed too much for a player who can be available to discuss any pre-contracts starting from January and would be available on a free in the summer.
If Chukwuemeka leaves when his deal expires, the fee would be only £400,000 (around 470k euros) in compensation, writes The Athletic.
Right now, it seems that everything points out to the 18-year-old leaving. Other clubs in Italy (in addition to AC Milan) and Germany are monitoring the situation and there is plenty of interest in England, too, especially as he made the team of the tournament at the Euros this month.
