Inter's CEO, Giuseppe Marotta spoke to the media during his presence at the 'Lo Sport fa Viaggiare', he discussed the situation of Italian football:
"There are few facilities, there is still a lot to do: we are sinful of infrastructures and there is a bureaucracy that makes financing new structures very difficult and the sports bank itself is unable to guarantee money."
Marotta added:
"In sport, you have to have the courage to dare, it is also up to me as the leader of a group to say what the bar will be. Saying that we are aiming for the second star is a stimulus, then the challenge is important for everyone in an anomalous season, with almost two months of forced rest due to the World Cup. It will be necessary to manage the athletic part, which will be difficult given that so many players will go to the World Cup. I would say it will affect the final outcome. For sure it will be an exciting championship, in recent years Inter and Milan have won the Scudetto, making sure that there is no longer the dominance of Juventus. Last year, they showed that attention to detail makes the difference. We have come within two points of the Scudetto, which means that the distance was minimal and therefore those aspects neglected the past season must be taken care of."
Marotta concluded:
"If foreign funds arrive, it means that there is a shortage of money, there is a great financial difficulty. So it is right that space should be given to foreign properties, because patronage is over, and to funds because in a time of great financial contraction they give life to the system. However, I believe that Made in Italy is still of the highest level, as players and as coaches. Carlo Ancelotti, by winning the Champions League, demonstrated what the quality of the Italian coaches is."
