Ismael Bennacer is yet to renew his contract and it seems that there are important clubs who are focused on him.
Algerian commentator and journalist who works for Bein Sport Arabic, Hafid Derraji, has written in his column for alquds.co.uk that the former Empoli midfielder is wanted at Liverpool, citing British sources.
The commentator added that AC Milan sees the exit of Bennacer among the most impossible things for them now especially after the exit of Franck Kessié on a free to FC Barcelona and the failure to sign Renato Sanches.
The operation to move Bennacer, therefore, is complicated as it is linked to other moves in the market. AC Milan have no intention of losing their jewel. Liverpool, as per the source, are keen on him in light of the injuries of Thiago Alcantara as well as Fabinho and the lack of consistency in Jordan Henderson's performances.
Jurgen Klopp, for his part, continues to ask for a midfielder to add depth: Ismael Bennacer is in the shortlist with Inter's Hakan Calhanoglu and Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
The source also reminds us in his article that there is a 50 million euros release clause in the contract of the Algerian midfielder. Besides the Reds, Manchester City and Arsenal (who have let him go in the past) do want him. But, it all depends on AC Milan's will and how hard they will push for a renewal.
The Italian champions, according to the report, want to triple his current salary and increase the release clause from 50 million euros to 100 million euros in a new deal that sees him linked to the red and black faithful until June 2027. However, no agreement is yet found despite negotiations between AC Milan and Ismael Bennacer having started since 6 months ago. The Premier League clubs mentioned above are aware of the situation and want to take advantage of it.
The 24-year-old certainly wants to reach the new level in his career, a milestone, let's say, whether that is with AC Milan or at any other top club that is interested in him.
