AC Milan technical area director Paolo Maldini and director of sport Frederic Massara are looking for a new central defender to replace the exit of Alessio Romagnoli who has joined SS Lazio on a free transfer. The two names on the radar right now are Tottenham's Japhet Tanganga and Paris Saint-Germain's Abdou Diallo. But, the negotiations with the two players are stalled.

AC Milan want to sign one of the two profiles mentioned above, but the reason behind the stand-by situation is that there is still no agreement on the transfer formula with any club. PSG and Tottenham are both demanding the obligation to buy while the Rossoneri would like to make a deal on the basis of a loan with the option to buy instead.
According to Tuttosport, it cannot be excluded that the Rossoneri may remain like this with Matteo Gabbia staying and not leaving on loan.
