AC Milan are now owned by Gerry Cardinale's RedBird Capital Partners as the closing with Elliott finally took place earlier today.
Luciano Mondellini, who is the director of Calcio e Finanza has spoken to Sky Sport Italia about this transaction and what it could mean for the champions of Italy:
"This transfer was conducted between Cardinale and Elliott, who was formally still the owner. In the future, there will be no crazy spending, they will go for young players like De Ketelaere who was the biggest purchase and is young."
Luciano Mondellini added:
"Elliott's philosophy will continue even under Gerry Cardinale. Yankees? Cardinale is specific about sport, while Elliott is a global finance fund that deals with many things. Also there is the entrance along with the fund where LeBron James and the Yankees appear, who are very good. It is the best franchise in the world in the commercial management of their products, anyone who knows their logo, almost becoming the New York logo. In baseball, the Yankees are what Real Madrid is in football. And if they agreed to enter it is because they saw potential in it."
