AC Milan's first game in the Champions League against RB Salzburg this season ended with a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull arena in Austria. The Rossoneri of Stefano Pioli conceded first but found the equaliser in the first half and continued to push in hopes to find the winner, which never arrived.

Mario Sconcerti commented about the result and performance, he offered the following words to the pages of Il Corriere della Sera newspaper:

"The night of Milan is enlivened by the defeat of Chelsea in Zagreb . A draw in Salzburg, where no one usually wins, in the end is also good. It was not the Milan of the derby , strangely inaccurate, with many technical errors in passing and some individual problems."

"Rafael Leao was in the phase of indolence: when is on, Milan score. He disappeared again. Charls De Ketelaere moves but he is the one who must be helped, he is not yet the one to help the team. We have to wait for him."

Sconcerti continued to analyse the draw of AC Milan:

"The difference with the opponent was clear, there is no European quality in Salzburg, but a lot of drive, a great desire to emerge. This time, never really played with their own style."

"It's not a disappointment, it's a kind of reflexive braking", said Sconcerti about Milan's result before concluding, "The awareness that you cannot always fight and that in any case the speed of play remains essential in Europe. The big teams win clearly in Glasgow like Real Madrid and Manchester City in Seville. Milan may be able to do it but they have to understand each other. The leap in quality is now above all mental."
