AC Milan's forward, Olivier Giroud, has spoken to French channel M6. Here are his words:
"I remain natural, always positive and smiling when I come to the national team. I haven't had any conversations recently, the last one dates back to March when he (coach Deschamps) explained to me that today there is an established hierarchy and I respect it. I'm always ready to help the team and do what I do best: stay competitive with my club. That's what I have to do to get back to the national team. I know that there is little time left and I put all of myself to be able to play my third World Cup."
Are you compatible with playing with Karim Benzema?
"I'm a team player. When Karim scored in the European Championship, I was the first to celebrate it. My state of mind remains the same, as well as my motivation and my determination. Then it is the coach who will decide."
On the new arrivals to the national team:
"I discover all the faces, we need to know the new ones. But the 'Bleu' spirit, the team, is always there. We want to raise the Nations League again and get back into the standings. The national team remained a bit controversial in a month of June, but today, despite the many new players, there is the quality to win the next two games. We will have to answer this because these are the last tests before Qatar."
Giroud on the importance of scoring goals:
"The responsibility of scoring goals has always been a bit mine, in the sense that I am a striker. I feel very good physically and it is true that I am in a splendid period in which I have scored several times. Everything is going well and I hope to continue like this."
Giroud on the chant that the Milan fans dedicated to him:
"The Milan fans completely adopted me and created this song for me and it stayed ("si è girato Giroud"). The Italian and Milanese enthusiasm that has been seen in recent months that we have seen in recent months, in May when we won the Scudetto, has nothing comparable. Maybe the World Cup with the France national team, but it is true that it is extraordinary."
