Empoli - Milan game last night was officiated by Gianluca Aureliano. It was his 27th appearance in Serie A. He tried to let the game run without pausing it too many times.
Former Italian referee Luca Marelli analyses the cases discussed in the match in the 'moviola' of DAZN. According to him, a penalty to Empoli should not be given and therefore, the referee was correct in that episode. Here are his words:
"The Milan full-back deflects a shot from outside the box. Initially it seems that he takes it only with the hip but then you see that there is the touch with the hand, which however is not punishable because it does not increase the volume of the body."
The former referee, Marelli, comments on Milan's throw-in by Tonali to Leao:
"The ball comes out three meters behind the midfield line. Pioli takes it and passes it to Tonali, who beats about 9 meters ahead... But the VAR cannot intervene."
