The AC Milan shareholders' meeting was an opportunity to mark a point of arrival and, at the same time, of restart. The 2021-22 financial year ended with a loss of 66 million euros: there were 195 million euros in 2019-20 and 96 million euros in 2020-21.
Compared to the historic big clubs and the imbalances in the sector, the Rossoneri are moving against the trend: last season Juve burned 254 million euros while Inter had a loss of 140 million. The improvement in the accounts took place through organic growth in revenues.
It is true that the capital gain from Casa Milan sale was significant in the Rossoneri's numbers (18 million euros), but player sales were low: only 10 million euros were gained, 5 of which came from the definitive sale of Jens Petter Hauge.
The performance of the commercial sector of AC Milan, on the other hand, should be emphasized, reaching 83 million thanks to new contracts and bonuses: + 12% in one year (65 million in 2020-21), + 59% in two years (52 million in 2019-20). And in these days, the renewal with the main sponsor Fly Emirates will close, around 30 million (15 in the last season).
The turnover of Milan, excluding the transfer market and extraordinary transactions, rose to 269 million in the last season with the gains from the Champions League (44 million) and stadium revenues (32 million). A nice leap from 216 million euros in 2018-19, the last pre-Covid season, this was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport on their website today.
