AC Milan beat RB Salzburg tonight with a strong show of performance: 4-0. The Rossoneri, therefore, qualify to the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. The Italian club director, Paolo Maldini, spoke in this manner to the microphones of Prime Video:
"Tonight, we start talking about something serious. We want to be protagonists in Italy and then find that European dimension that has always belonged to Milan. We have to be ambitious. We are happy, the team is young but it is becoming mature. Three or four years ago we would have celebrated a lot more, but this is also a positive thing."
He added:
"It is not easy, we are still very far from the big names also from an economic point of view, but we will be a loose cannon in this Champions League."
Maldini on the renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli:
"I think it was right to do it before the game that could qualify us or eliminate us from the Champions League. The renewal would have arrived for the coach either way."
Maldini concluded:
"I am hungry, I like to see this hunger also in the players, in the staff, in the whole group. The championship we won is the demonstration that everyone gave that 0.5% more to win the championship. We have to be ambitious and we cannot be satisfied."
