AC Milan's technical area director, Paolo Maldini, spoke to the microphones of Mediaset Infinity+ after seeing the Rossoneri beat RB Salzburg at the San Siro and thus making it through to the round of 16 in the Champions League competition. Here are his statements:
"The missteps in the league are there. There was a great response: from the team, from the people, from the fans. We must be proud of the environment we have created."
Do you set any limits?
"There are more peaks than descents in our European history. In football, there is defeat that hurts, like in Istanbul, but our ability to get back up has always been great because we have an environment used to this kind of pressure and the players know what to do."
Maldini on the chance of facing Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid in the next round of the Champions League:
"It would be great. There is a big economic gap with the teams that have done well in the last 10-15 years and it becomes almost mathematical from here on out. But the other teams know the strength of AC Milan. Coming to the San Siro is no simple feat for anyone."
