RB Salzburg’s 24-year-old Austrian centre-back, Maximilian Wober, spoke to the media about the loss of his team against AC Milan last night in the Champions League and therefore being relegated to the Europa League competition. Here are his words:
“Milan were strong. You can see the difference in level in the way they used the chances: they proved to be at the top in this! Going 2-0 down just after half-time was a hard blow and we have never been able to forget it. Milan then played their game. We are disappointed, but we have scored six points in the group and it is a great success. We have demonstrated in stages what we are, but never for the full 90 minutes. I’m sure we will still have a lot to offer in Europe after the winter break.”
Wober added:
“If you look at all 90 minutes, which scored four goals and we didn’t score a single goal, you notice this individual quality. We were tied in the first half and we also had better chances. We felt that something could be possible today. If you suffer the 2-0 with the first action at 46th minute, then it’s a slap. We have never recovered. The goal has always been to spend the winter internationally: we did it, so we can be proud of our results.”
