According to what is reported by Il Corriere dello Sport in today’s print edition, AC Milan‘s starting lineup against Salernitana in Salerno will not be very different from the lineup which was seen in the 3-0 friendly loss against PSV Eindhoven.
Between injuries and late returns from the World Cup, Pioli will have to start from a heavily reworked squad. In the cold afternoon in Eindhoven, however, the Rossoneri coach still wanted to try some experiments to understand their reliability in view of Wednesday. The first was Antonio Mirante in goal in place of Tatarusanu: the performance of the 39-year-old goalkeeper, however, did not seem up to the situation and therefore there is always a big question mark on the role of the backup keeper while waiting for the return of Mike Maignan.
As a left-back, Sergino Dest was deployed, the American struggled a lot against Noni Madueke of PSV who scored a brace. As a left-winger, Yacine Adli did not show much of his qualities, only a few glimpses.
There is a lot of work to do, AC Milan’s boss Stefano Pioli will at least b e able to rely on Rafael Leao on the left-wing against Salernitana. But, as for the striker and left-back positions, it remains to be seen if Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernandez, who returned to Milanello only yesterday, can be available for the fixture on January 4 or not.
