AC Milan's former legendary head coach, Arrigo Sacchi, made these comments on Stefano Pioli's AC Milan and their current form and situation. Here are his words:
"The championship is not over. And Milan showed that with motivation, team spirit and play you can leave everyone speechless. The guys who had stunned have fallen today into normalcy. A few injuries too many, some negative results accrued unexpectedly and then the lack of experience in a group in which hardly anyone had ever won before last year. Then, the team started to underestimate themselves, to lose certainties. Today, AC Milan is no longer a collective on the pitch which moves with harmony. Have you seen Inter 's first goal in the derby? Calabria goes to double on Lautaro , where Kjaer is already there, and Dimarco is free to score. Mistakes like this relate to the mental aspect and this speaks volumes about the Rossoneri's current momentum."
On Charles De Ketelaere's moment:
"The moment is difficult, I would bet on those players who are able to handle the particular weight of this phase."
Sacchi on Paolo Maldini's presence at Milanello:
"It is very important. Paolo embodies the club with his style, his rules, his history. Here, the rules must never be missing: the intelligence of a group is trained even in this way."
On the transfer market:
"There is little planning in football, Milan won by planning. The problem today is the head, not the physical condition, not the market. If Pioli finds the real Milan again, he will be able to take great satisfaction in the Champions League as well. When Milan played with the collective, they could put anyone in difficulty, they can also do it also against Tottenham."
