AC Milan are going through a very difficult moment in the season. An exit from the cup competition before losing 3-0 against Inter in the Supercoppa fixture in Riyadh created tension and a depressing mood. What made it worse is the 4-0 loss against Lazio away from home.
According to what is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport on their website, Stefano Pioli was not only betayed by the lack of reinforcements, but also by two players in particular who were expected to do a lot more this season.
The first is Ante Rebic. The 29-year-old Croat has been in a bad form and suffered some physical issues. He only played a total of 678 minutes with 3 goals and 2 assists registered. He was always a trusted player who is relied on heavily by Pioli. But he has disappeared now.
The second player is Divock Origi. The newspaper describe him as the “wrong investment”. Arrived from Liverpool at the end of his contract, Origi did not leave his mark. When he was called into question he didn’t get noticed, except for the goal he scored in the 4-1 win against Monza. The 27-year-old star earns 4 million euros net per season with AC Milan just like Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennacer. More than Mike Maignan, Sandro Tonali and Fikayo Tomori: such a high figure for only one goal scored. Meanwhile, this La Liga star has been linked with a move to the San Siro to reinforce the attack.
