The January transfer market window is closed for this season and no real reinforcements were made by the AC Milan club.
The club directors, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, plan and hope to be able to strengthen the squad in the summer, however, especially if the team can grab Champions League qualification in order to get a decent budget.
According to a rumour which was relayed by Italy-based website Pianeta Milan, the Rossoneri could be forced to sell Leao in the summer if they are not able to reach a renewal agreement. With the money obtained from his exit, AC Milan would target some important signings. The first is Newcastle's versatile forward Allan Saint-Maximin and another profile in the radar is Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma.
The 'impossible' dream, though, as per the latest rumour would be FC Barcelona's skilled star and winger Oussmane Dembélé whose contract expires in June 2024.
