SportMediaset journalist Claudio Raimondi granted an exclusive interview to MilanNews.it the day after the AC Milan - Tottenham match, which he followed from the sidelines.
Paolo Maldini spoke to Mediaset (read interview here) about the meeting with Cardinale: what did they say to each other?
"Surely they talked about how the market strategy will not deviate from that of the previous ownership, also because Cardinale's priority is the stadium and any financial effort will be made there. Maldini may have expressed his reasons, but it is certain that the strategy will not deviate much in order to build a Milan team without already-formed champions, but with champions to be developed."
What impression did Maldini give about Leao's contract renewal?
"He answered that the intention is the same as before, if there were negative indications he would have made it clear. In my opinion, there is still a good chance of renewing the contract, but it is clear that Milan must now make evaluations based on their Champions League placement: there is a bit more uncertainty now. The parties will continue the dialogue, but I believe that the dialogue will become more intense when Milan has a comfortable lead on fifth place, allowing the club to make more certain calculations on the revenues from the Champions League."
