Olivier Giroud, AC Milan striker, spoke about his renewal with the Rossoneri and the period he is experiencing, including his thoughts on De Ketelaere. Here are his words to DAZN, as relayed by La Gazzetta dello Sport:
"The goal is to continue here. I hope to reach an agreement, we are talking and I think things will go in the right direction."
Giroud continued:
"At 85 minutes of Milan-Roma, when I left the field, I was smiling because everything was going well... shortly after we conceded two goals from a set piece. At that moment we could still dream of the Scudetto, that game was the turning point of our season. It hurts to see the images of that match again. After the month of January we needed a game to get back up. We did it against Torino and Tottenham, against Monza it was not perfect but for confidence they were all decisive games. Against Atalanta, it will be even more important since they are like us in the race for the Champions League."
On Charles De Ketelaere, Giroud said:
"After the missed header against Tottenham, I hugged De Ketelaere. It is in these difficult moments that we have to show our support to our teammates: now he lacks confidence and spontaneity, he needs a goal because everything then can change. I wanted him to score also because against Sampdoria they disallowed a goal for offside, it's my fault he hasn't already broken the deadlock. I hope he scores in London against Tottenham."
