With three months left before the summer transfer window, the AC Milan club is wasting no time in preparation for the 2023-24 season.
The Rossoneri's directors, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, are juggling two tasks at once, tying down the contracts of forwards Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leão, and mapping out the squad for head coach Stefano Pioli for the upcoming campaign.
AC Milan are eyeing five potential signings for the forthcoming transfer market: a central defender, a left-back, a midfielder, a right-winger, and a center-forward. The latter role, however, has left the Lombardy outfit evaluating various options, ranging from the pricey Rasmus Højlund of Atalanta to the emerging talent of Boca Juniors' Mateo Retegui. Maldini and Massara have an extensive list of attacking prospects who could potentially shine at Milan, including one player the club has tracked in the past but has yet to don the Diavolo colours.
That player in question is indeed Gianluca Scamacca, a forward who is 24 years old. He moved from Sassuolo to West Ham for 42 million euros (36 million euros+ 6 million euros in bonuses) in the summer of 2022. Despite a promising start with the Hammers, Scamacca's game time gradually dwindled under David Moyes, leading him to express his desire to return to Serie A, according to Pianeta Milan.
This has also led to an official split with Alessandro Lucci's World Soccer Agency, who previously represented him. Scamacca is eagerly anticipating the chance to revive his career in Italy's top flight, and AC Milan, in search of a physically and technically dominating striker to eventually succeed Zlatan Ibrahimović, could be seriously interested in him. However, the major roadblock to the negotiation seems to be West Ham's lofty demand of 50 million euros for his services in the upcoming summer transfer market.
